Klein and Pioneer Men 4x400-Meter Relay Post NCAA Provisional Marks at Dr. Keeler Invitational
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field team sent a contingent of runners to North Central College on Saturday for the Dr. Keeler Invitational.
The Pioneers' Patrick Klein improved on his NCAA provisional mark in the 1,500-meter run with a top finish among Division III competitiors with a time of 3:51.57. The time is the 12th fastest-mark in the nation in the event.
Also, the UW-Platteville men's 4x400-meter relay team of Aaron Hrubes, Matthew Ziegler, Patrick Kessenich and Ben Farrell posted a NCAA provisional time of 3:16.13. The performance ranks as the 23rd-fastest in the nation in the event.
On Friday, another contingent of UW-Platteville men's and women's track and field teams traveled to the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open at Roger Harring Stadium inside the Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
Sophomore Aaron Loferski won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.01 and freshman Lynea Axelson was second in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:21.54. Sophomores Jared Bradfish and Chas Spangenberg were fifth in the pole vault with matching clearances of 14-10. Brandon Harms was seventh in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:59.46.
The primary objective for the Pioneers is to improve on their NCAA provisional marks with the final selections to be announced on Sunday, May 22nd.
