Pioneers Perform Well at Gina Relays and UW-Whitewater Invitational
Late Friday night, in the 10,000-meter run that was split into two sections, Jason Garvens recorded a personal best time of 30:12.58 and in another section, Anthony Swimm posted a personal-best time of 31:11.66.
The men set 20-season-best performances including Aaron
Loferski, who matched his NCAA provisional time of 14.83
with a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. The Pioneers
mile relay team was second in 3:27.43; plus, they got a third
(43-10.75) and fourth (43-7.25) place finish, respectively in the
triple jump by Preston Baker and Josh
VandenBush.
The Pioneers also got a fourth-place finish and season-best
clearance of 6-5 in the high jump by Ace McCarty.
Teammate Evan Buck set a new season-best by nearly
34 feet in the javelin with a throw of 163 to finish fourth. In
addition, T.J. Valley was fourth in the 400-meter
hurdles in a time of 58.05 and Jared Bradfish tied
a season-best in the pole vault with a clearance of 15-3 to finish
fifth.
The Pioneers picked up four more fifth-place finishes from Casey Goffinet in the 200-meter dash (24.15), Scott Clark in the 1,500-meter run (4:11.83), Lynn Oyawiri in the 100-meter dash (11.03) and Reese Mersberger in the 800-meter run (2:01.72).
