Softball Drops Two Games at Wash U.

GAME ONE: UW-Platteville - 0, Central – 8
The Pioneers' senior Melissa Anderson took the loss allowing eight runs (seven earned) in 4.2 innings. She allowed 11 hits and two home runs. Central's Mallory Schulenberg pitched a two-hit complete-game shutout.
Central scored a run in the first and two two-run shot by Annie Sarcone and a by Caitlyn Meyer gave the Dutch a 5-0 lead in the third. The Dutch scored a run the fourth and added two more in the bottom of the fifth to put the eight-run rule in effect.

Junior Becca Lowe and Kayla Gosdeck recorded the Pioneers only hits.
GAME TWO: UW-Platteville – 0, Augustana – 6
Augustana broke open the scoreless game with a run in the top of the fourth. The Vikings added three runs in the fifth breaking open the game. Augie started the fifth frame with three consecutive hits and end the inning with four hits.
A home run and a RBI double extended Augustana's lead to 6-0 in the top of the sixth.
Jeni Freiburger took her second loss of the season as she gave up 10 hits and four runs in five innings of work. Freshman Keri Treml came in relief and threw two innings giving up three hits and two runs.
Sophomore Taylor Ruchti tallied two of the Pioneers five hits.
The Pioneers continue their spring break trip in the St. Louis area with a doubleheader at Webster on Monday starting at 4 p.m. UW-Platteville's games on Sunday have been cancelled.
