Keller Named Academic All-American
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Sophomore Jacob Keller of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team has been named a 2022 Academic All-American as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Sophomore Jacob Keller of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team has been named a 2022 Academic All-American as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Keller is the third men's soccer athlete of earn Academic All-American honors and the first since 2017.
Keller started all 20 games on defense for the Pioneers this season and was part of the defensive back line that helped the team allow just 1.34 goals against per game. Keller has started 31 games in his two years in the program and scored two goals with three assists in his career.
Keller holds a 4.0 cumulative GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major with an emphasis in Biomedical Engineering. He has been named to the Chancellor's List and Dean's List all four semesters at UW-Platteville and is a President of Chancellor Scholars based on academic success, extracurricular involvement and leadership. Keller is the President and member of Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society) as well as Pi Tau Sigma (Mechanical Engineering Honor Society) as well as the Vice President for campus relations for the Pioneer Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
Over the past summer, Keller interned as a manufacturing engineer for Monteris Medical in Minnetonka, Minnesota, which manufactures surgical probes to ablate tumors from the brain using MRI imaging and laser therapy.
Keller plans to receive his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and then pursue a job within the medical device industry or the biomedical/medical field while also furthering his education with an MBA or by enrolling in medical school. He has a particular interest in the research and development area of biomaterials and biomedical devices and hopes to run his own medical device company or be a doctor for a sports team.
