Pioneers shutout Minnesota-Morris
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team attacked first and never looked back Sunday afternoon defeating the Minnesota-Morris University Cougars 6-0 in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team attacked first and never looked back Sunday afternoon defeating the Minnesota-Morris University Cougars 6-0 in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Four of the six goals scored by UW-Platteville (3-3-2 overall) were the first goals of the season for four Pioneers as they outshot the Cougars (1-8-0 overall) 38-1.
Freshman Zachary Schaefer scored the Pioneers first unassisted goal and his first goal in the 30th minute. Two minutes later, sophomore Scott Slocum scored his first goal of the season with assists from Nate Staral and Jack Gentilli. Rounding out the Pioneers' nine-minute scoring spree was sophomore Jake Bakich with an unassisted goal for his first goal of the season putting the Pioneers ahead 3-0 going into halftime.
Less than a minute into the second half, freshman Jack Gentilli scored his third goal of the season with an assist from Schaefer giving the Pioneers a 4-0 lead. Slocum found sophomore Noah Mesdjian for his first goal of the season in the 64th minute and extended the gap to 5-0. Seconds before the full 90 minutes expired, junior Addison Freybler scored the Pioneers sixth goal of the day giving the final score of 6-0.
The Pioneers will have a couple days to recover from the weekend's games before they travel to Dubuque, Iowa to face #9 Loras College on Wednesday, Sept. 25 with game time set for 7 p.m.
