Sarr Leads Men's Soccer Past Lakeland, 9-1

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer handed Lakeland its first loss of the season, as the Pioneers routed the Muskies, 9-1, on Saturday at Sheboygan, Wis.
The Pioneers improve to 1-1-1 on the year while Lakeland fell to 2-1-1.
"It was a much needed performance from the guys, and now we need to find some balance and be consistent in every game," said head coach Enzo Fuschino. "Today we were organized, aggressive and showed quality."
The game was scoreless until the 14th-minute when junior Mbodje Sarr scored his second goal of the season. Hunter McMahon netted his first goal of the season in the 24th minute and Elliot Markwardt scored his first collegiate goal to give the Pioneers a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Sarr netted his second goal of the game in the 64th-minute but the Muskies responded less than two minutes later. The Pioneers would then score four goals in a 12-minute span to go up 8-1.
The Pioneers host Dubuque on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for their home opener at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
