Three second half goals led host UW-Superior to a 3-0 win over the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers (8-10-1, 2-5 WIAC) and the host Yellowjackets had played to a scoreless first 45 minutes. Both teams had recorded five shots, but it was different in the final 45 minutes.
After each team recorded a shot in the first minutes of the second half, it was in the 56th minute that Alex Antoine put UW-Superior ahead on the scoreboard, 1-0. A little over a minute later, the Yellowjackets' Thomas Shuldheisz scored the first of two goals.
A shot by the Pioneers' Brandon Chmiel was blocked in the final seconds of the contest to preserve the shutout for UW-Superior goalkeeper Matt Elder.
The Pioneers will next face Finlandia, who they defeated 10-0 on Sept. 24 in Platteville.
