The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team lost a 4-1 decision to host Luther College on Tuesday night in Decorah, Iowa.
The Pioneers (5-6-1) recorded 14 shots in the loss but were outshot by the Norse, who had 22 shots in the win. Richard Rowell led the UW-Platteville attack with four shots.
The Norse (7-2-1) scored twice in the final minutes of the first half to take a 2-0 lead on the visiting Pioneers.
With a 2-0 deficit, in the second half, UW-Platteville continued to challenge the Luther defense with seven more shots. The Pioneers cut the deficit to one, 2-1, when Brandon Chmiel scored his team-best eighth goal of the season in the 66th minute.
Luther answered the Chmiel goal with two more goals in the 76th and 89th minute, respectively. UW-Platteville goalkeeper Jared Kuehl made seven saves in the contest.
UW-Platteville is back in action on Sunday, Oct. 2nd at noon when they host Augsburg at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
