UW-Platteville rolled to a 5-0 halftime lead and beat Northland College 6-0 Friday in the first round of the Warrior Cup Friday at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee.
The brothers Gottschlich accounted for four of the goals, as B.J. and freshman sibling Kyle each were credited with two.
Dan Howard and Thomas Knezic also scored goals, and Brandon Chmiel made three assists. Both Gottschlichs had assists, and Tate Weber had one.
The Pioneers are coming off a 14-5-1 season which saw them make their first NCAA III tournament appearance and subsequent playoff win.
"After two weeks of practice, you could tell they just ready to get started," said acting head coach Allison Sanyi.
The Pioneer starters played only about a quarter of the game, giving Sanyi plenty of opportunities to rotate players in the contest.
"It gave us a chance to look at a lot of people," she said.
The Pioneers face Bethany Lutheran Saturday at 3 p.m.
