Pearson Named Finalist For 2024 Jostens Trophy
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Logan Pearson of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s basketball team was named one of 10 finalists for the 2024 Jostens Trophy it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Logan Pearson of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team was named one of 10 finalists for the 2024 Jostens Trophy it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The Jostens Trophy is a national award created by the Rotary Club of Salem and sponsored by Jostens, Inc., to recognize the most outstanding men's and women's Division III basketball players of the year. The award focuses on three major criteria: basketball ability, academic prowess, and service to one's surrounding community. The 2024 season will mark the 26th time the Jostens Trophy honors have been awarded.
The winner of the Jostens Trophy will be announced later this month on March 18.
Pearson earned WIAC Player of the Year after finishing second in the conference in scoring at 23.3 points per game. The senior was also fourth in the WIAC in both rebounds (6.1) and assists (2.9) per game while playing a team-high 30.9 minutes per game. The Kimberly native earned WIAC Player of the Week honors six times and recorded four double-doubles. Pearson, who was also recently named to the Bevo Francis Top 50 Watch List, scored at least 30 points in four games, including a career-high 38 against UW-La Crosse on January 27.
Pearson and the Pioneers will take on Case Western Reserve in the NCAA Sectional Semifinal on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Central Time in Angola, Indiana.
The finalists will now be reviewed by the Jostens Trophy National Selection Committee. The committee is composed of men and women from across the country. The committee features current and former athletic administrators and head coaches, past Jostens Trophy recipients, and select members of the Division III media. The committee will spend the next week-plus reviewing the nominees with the aim of announcing the two winners on Monday, March 18.
