Voelker's late shot caps Pioneers' comeback

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team (14-2, 4-1 WIAC) ranked No. 7 on the D3hoops.com poll, defeated UW-La Crosse (13-2, 3-2 WIAC) on Saturday night. Senior Carter Voelker scored the game-winning basket with :03 remaining to give the Pioneers the 69-67 victory.

First half

• The Pioneers led 19-18 with 9:53 remaining in the first half before the Eagles went on a 22-2 run to push the score to 21-40. 
• The Eagles led 44-26 going into halftime.
• The Pioneers shot 34.6% (9-of-26) from the field and 26.7% (4-of-15) from three-point range and the Eagles shot 50% (14-of-28) from the field and 55.6% (10-of-18) on three-point attempts.
• The Pioneers shot 66.7% (4-of-6) from the free throw line and UW-La Crosse shot 75% (6-of-8).

Second half

• The Pioneers took a timeout down 50-63 with 4:53 remaining and Voelker responded with 11 unanswered points in less than two minutes to bring the score to 61-63. 
• Sophomore Blake McCann and junior Drew Gunnink each knocked down a three-pointer in the final two minutes to help setup Voelker's game-winning shot with :03 remaining.
• Voelker scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half. Voelker shot 66.7% (6-of-9) from the field including 3-of-6 from three-point territory. 
• Sophomore Kyle Tuma had eight points, six rebounds and three assists in the half.
• The Pioneers shot 54.2% (13-of-24) from the field and 50% (8-of-16) from three-point range while UW-La Crosse shot 33.3% (8-of-24) from the field and 36.4% (4-of-11) on three-pointers.
• The Pioneers shot 81.8% (9-of-11) from the free throw line while UW-La Crosse shot 37.5% (3-of-8).

• UW-Platteville improved to 14-2 overall, 4-1 WIAC.
• UW-La Crosse fell to 13-2 overall, 3-2 WIAC. 
• Voelker recorded a double double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Voelker added six assists and a steal in 38 minutes.
• Tuma scored 14 points with nine rebounds and three assists.
• UW-Platteville shot 44% (22-of-50) from the field and 38.7% (12-of-31) from beyond the three-point arc. UW-La Crosse shot 42.3% (22-of-52) from the field and 48.3% (14-of-29) from three-point territory.
• The Pioneers shot 76.5% (13-of-17) from the free throw line while the Eagles shot 56.3% (9-of-16).
