The 2016 season will mark Matt Janus’ third year with Pioneer Football

2015 was a special year for the Defensive Line, as Defensive End Andrew Robinson picked up numerous post-season accolades. In addition to be a first team All-WIAC pick, Robinson was also named the WIAC Defensive Player of the Year, along with First Team All-Region (West), and D3football.com 3rd Team All-American. Also in 2015, Defensive Tackle Austin Young was named All-WIAC Honorable mention.

In 2014, Janus came back to UW-Platteville after serving as Defensive Coordinator for Sheboygan Falls High School (WI). In his first season back, he guided two of his lineman to All-WIAC selections including First Team and All-Region selection Andrew Robinson, and All-WIAC Honorable Mention Nose Tackle Levi Epley.

After a four-year career in the orange and blue, Janus served as a Graduate Assistant for two seasons coaching the Defensive Line (2009) and the linebackers (2010). In 2009 he mentored first team All-WIAC Tim Stephenson, and All-WIAC Honorable Mention Randy Langer. In 2010, Janus guided 1st Team All-Conference Linebacker, Eric Leander.

During his career at UW-Platteville, he was a three-year letter winner for the Pioneers, and was team captain in 2009.

In addition to his football duties, Janus also serves as the Recruiting Coordinator for the Athletic Department in the Des Moines area.

He and his wife Hannah, have two daughters, Viviana and Adelyn, and reside in Mount Horeb.
