Pioneers salute seniors before final 2017 game
The game: The University of Wisconsin-Platteville closes its 2017 campaign by playing host to UW-Stevens Point in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The records: UW-Platteville is 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while UW-Stevens Point is 4-5, 1-5.
The rankings: UW-Platteville is receiving votes in the latest d3football.com rankings and American Football Coaches Association poll. UW-Stevens Point is unranked.
The coaches: Mike Emendorfer is UW-Platteville's all-time winningest coach, compiling a 96-95 record in his 19th season. He has taken the Pioneers to their only two NCAA III playoff berths in school history, in 2013 and 2016. Emendorfer is the WIAC's active leader in victories. UWSP's Tom Journell has a 29-30 record in his sixth season as the Pointers' leader and 51-48 overall mark, counting his four seasons at Elmhurst. Prior to taking over as head coach, he was the Pointers' defensive coordinator for four seasons.
The Pioneers: UW-Platteville will salute a 22-member senior class that has continued the Pioneer winning tradition. This year's seniors have led the squad to a seventh straight winning season, the second-longest streak in school history behind the eight recorded in 1967-74.
With a win Saturday, the 2017 seniors would become just the fifth class to record at least seven wins all four years. The seniors, who will be saluted prior to the game, are:

The Pointers: UW-Stevens Point went 3-0 in non-conference play, topping St. Norbert, Albion and Adrian, but has dropped four of five WIAC games. Two of the losses have come by a touchdown, including last Saturday's 21-14 setback to UW-River Falls. The Pointers rallied for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, as sophomore quarterback Mitchell Neubauer threw for one score and ran for another. His 18-yard TD pass to Jonte Webb brought the Pointers within one score, but the Falcons were able to run out the final 5:49.
