Pioneers Score 11 Runs In Win Over Carroll
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team (2-5) got a strong offensive showing in an 11-1 win over Carroll (Wis.) (4-7) on Wednesday afternoon in Pensacola, Florida.

The first six UW-Platteville batters reached base in the top of the first, resulting in three runs. Junior Justin Fago delivered an RBI double to left start the scoring, and with the bases loaded, Grant Bossert and Jake Wegner drove in the other two runs via a walk and hit by pitch, respectively.
Senior Brandon Molldrem, getting the start on the mound for UW-Platteville, worked his way out a bases-loaded jam in the bottom half of the inning to maintain the three-run lead.
After scoring one run in the fourth on a passed ball, UW-Platteville added two more in the fifth. Brady Katterhagen knocked in Wegner with a single to left and later scored on an RBI groundout by Caleb Parker. Carroll scored its lone run of the game in the bottom half of the inning on a passed ball.
UW-Platteville struck for five runs in the sixth to increase the lead to 11-1 with Wegner connecting on a two-run double to centerfield to start the scoring. An error allowed the third run of the inning to score, and Chris Tsouras and Wyatt Molitor each added sacrifice flies to cap the scoring for the day.
Molldrem earned the win after allowing just one hit and one unearned run across five innings of work. He struck out three and walked four. Sophomore William Hough tossed the final two innings, giving up two hits while striking out two.
UW-Platteville put runners on base in multiple ways throughout the day with 11 hits and 10 walks drawn. Wegner finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI, while Fago and Wyatt Molitor each had two hits. Mason Molitor paced the team with three walks. Caleb Parker also recorded a pair of hits, including a triple, and drew two walks to get on base four times in the contest.
UW-Platteville will take on Sewanee for the second time in Pensacola tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
