Pioneers Fall In Non-Conference Game To Edgewood
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team (10-16) dropped a non-conference matchup to Edgewood (16-10) by a score of 10-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Kendall Murray Field.

Edgewood got on the board first, scoring two in the top half of the third on a triple to left field. UW-Platteville cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the fourth on a single to right field by junior Jordan Collins that scored freshman Charlie Breen.
The Eagles increased the lead to 6-1 with a pair of two-run singles in the top half of the fifth. A bases loaded walk in the sixth added another run for Edgewood. The Eagles added one more in the eighth and two more in the ninth to pick up the 10-1 victory.
The Pioneers used eight pitchers in the game, and sophomore Conner Paulson was charged with his first loss of the season after allowing the first two runs. Freshman Jordan Stanton started the game and struck out two, while juniors Brady Hubbard and Parker Heidorf also had scoreless appearances for UW-Platteville.
The Pioneers tallied just three hits in the game, with Collins, freshman Spencer Robertson, and sophomore Stephen Webster collecting them. Eagles starting pitcher Justin Gosse struck out 15 Pioneers in his seven innings of work, while allowing just two hits and three walks.
UW-Platteville returns to conference play this weekend when they travel to UW-Oshkosh for a pair of doubleheaders. Games on Saturday and Sunday are set for noon and 3 p.m. both days.
