The University of Wisconsin-Platteville defeated the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars 7-2 in Winter Haven, Florida. The win gives the Pioneers a 4-3 record and drops Morris to 0-8 on the season.

The victory gave the Pioneers a 5-3 record and moved the Warriors to 4-2. Lucas Keller started for the Pioneers and picked up the win, and Jordan Muchin started for the Warriors.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team defeated the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors 7-4 Friday in Florida, giving them their fourth victory on their Florida trip. The victory gave the Pioneers a 5-3 record and moved the Warriors to 4-2. Lucas Keller started for the Pioneers and picked up the win, and Jordan Muchin started for the Warriors.
The Warriors took an early lead in the second inning on a Christian Budzik sac-fly that scored John Mesagno. This 1-0 deficit was soon erased by UW-Platteville as they took the lead in the bottom half of the third inning on a 2 RBI triple by Taylor Christopher that scored Mitch Marty and Jonny Frese. Colin Deboer immediately added to the lead on an RBI groundout that scored Christopher. This gave the Pioneers a 3-1 lead at the end of the third inning.
The Warriors responded in the top of the fourth, with Mesagno scoring on a wild pitch and Pat Sirois scored on a Budzik single to tie the game at three.
The Warriors took the lead in the top of the sixth inning with Mesagno scoring on a Merlyn Herrera sacrifice bunt. This gave Eastern Connecticut State a 4-3 lead. The Pioneers rebounded in the bottom half of the sixth with Josh Moses hitting an RBI double to score Deboer. Max Meitzler followed with an RBI single to score Moses. The Pioneers made the score 6-4 on a Collin Mormann fielder's choice groundout that scored Kyle Reinhart.
The Pioneers added to their lead in the bottom of the eighth inning with Jonny Frese scoring on a throwing error, growing the Pioneers lead to 7-4. Pioneers reliever Cal Krafcheck was able to get the final outs of the ninth inning and picked up a three-inning save, with the Pioneers winning 7-4.
The Pioneers play again Saturday, March 18 in Florida against Western New England. The WNE Golden Bears have a 7-2 record.
