Pioneers Pick up Third Win of Florida Trip
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville defeated the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars 7-2 in Winter Haven, Florida. The win gives the Pioneers a 4-3 record and drops Morris to 0-8 on the season.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville defeated the University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars 7-2 in Winter Haven, Florida. The win gives the Pioneers a 4-3 record and drops Morris to 0-8 on the season.
The Pioneers scored first in the bottom of the first inning on a Josh Moses single, which scored Mitch Marty. They were able to build on their lead in the second inning on a 2-RBI single from Marty, which scored Conner Crotty and Curtis Barsness.This gave UW-Platteville a 3-0 lead. Later in the inning Colin Deboer doubled to score Marty and bring their lead to 4-0.
The score stayed at 4-0 until the bottom of the seventh inning when the Pioneers were able to add on to their lead. Deboer doubled to score Taylor Christopher to move the score to 5-0, which was followed by a Moses sac-fly to score Marty and advanced Deboer to third. Deboer scored on a wild pitch to give the Pioneers a 7-0 lead and their final run of the game.
The Cougars were able to get on the board in the ninth inning when Connor Spindler singled to score Donnie Mavencamp. They picked up another run off a Chandler Erickson RBI single which scored Chuck Menne. The Pioneers were able to get the final out and pick up the 7-2 victory. It gave them their third victory on their Florida trip and fourth overall.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, March 17 against Eastern Connecticut State. The Eastern Connecticut State Warriors have a 4-1 record.
