PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville continued its Florida trip on Monday in a 5-0 loss to the McDaniel College Green Terror. Colton Bormann started for the Pioneers on the mound, and Jordan Rhodes started for McDaniel.
The Green Terror got on the board early in the first inning with a two-run home-run by Kasey Nelson, giving them a 2-0 lead. This seemed to be all the run support needed by Rhodes, who was able to keep the Pioneers off balance at the plate all game, as he went seven innings and struck out eight. The Mean Green scored a few insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh, with Antonio Rosanova singling two runs home, and Michael Gallagher followed by scoring Mike Dunn from third base on a ground out to the pitcher. This gave the Green Terror a 5-0 lead, which held up.
This victory moved McDaniel to 3-4 on the season, and the Pioneers dropped to 3-2 on the season.
The Pioneers return to the field on Wednesday, March 15 in Florida, where they will play the College of New Jersey Lions. The Lions are 3-1 on the season.
