Pioneers name athletes of the week; Arnold earns WIAC honors
Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Boston Johnson, Sr. (Oshkosh, Wis./Oshkosh North). Guard. Johnson averaged 24 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals this week, including a career-high 30 points on 11-for-19 shooting against Whitewater. |

Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week – Morgan Horstman, Fr. (Bangor, Wis./Bangor). Guard. Horstman led the Pioneers in their battle with the regionally ranked No. 15 UW-River Falls Falcons on Saturday. The freshman logged 17 points on seven-for-10 shooting, including a perfect three-for-three from behind the three-point line and grabbed six rebounds in the 75-59 loss. Horstman totaled six points and five rebounds in the Pioneers’ 85-58 road loss to UW-Whitewater on Wednesday. |

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week – Garrett Riggs, Sr. (Burlington, Wis./Burlington). Pole Vault. Riggs won the pole vault at the UW-Platteville Invitational with a mark of 4.82 m (15’ 9.75”). That mark ranks fourth in the WIAC and tenth on the NCAA Division III national list. |

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week – Dan Arnold, So. (West Fargo, ND/Fargo Shanley). 60m Hurdles. Arnold won the 60-m hurdles at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Feb. 13. He ran 8.07 in the trials, and his first-place time in the finals of 8.03 broke the UW-Platteville school record. Arnold currently ranks first in the WIAC and second on the NCAA Division III national list. |

Wrestling Athlete of the Week – Scott Arneson, Fr. (Merrill, Wis./Merrill). 133-pound weight class. Arneson finished first in his weight class at the 2016 WIAC Championship. With a technical fall, a 15-10 decision in the semi-finals over the #1 seed and a pin in the championship bout over the #2 seed, Arneson was named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. |
