UW-Platteville inducts nine into Hall of Fame
Platteville, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville athletic department inducted nine former Pioneer greats into the Athletic Hall of Fame on May 22. The ceremony combined the Class of 2020 and 2021. The previous year’s ceremony was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The five inductees from 2021 are:
Marc Marshall - Track and Field
Marc Marshall left UW-Platteville holding six records in indoor and outdoor track. The Rockford, Illinois native held the record for 120-yard high hurdles, 70-yard high hurdles, 60-yard high hurdles, 60-yard low hurdles, the high jump and long jump. Marshall was a two-time all-conference champion, winning the indoor high hurdles in 1975 and the outdoor high hurdles in 1976. Marshall graduated in 1978 with a sociology degree. He is retired and currently resides in Tampa, Florida.
Tim Hardyman - Wrestling
Tim Hardyman was a four-time national qualifier in wrestling, earning All-American honors with a seventh- place finish in 1980. Hardyman won the 1979 and 1980 Wisconsin State University Conference Championship and finished second in 1981. Hardyman was a four-year letter winner and two-time captain. The Darlington, Wisconsin native graduated from UW-Platteville in 1981 with an agriculture education comprehensive degree. He currently resides in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, where he is senior vice president commercial/ag banker for Wisconsin Bank & Trust
Julie (Korish) Martyn - Track and Field
Julie (Korish) Martyn earned All-American status in 2001, placing eighth at the NCAA Division III National Outdoor Meet. The Cashton, Wisconsin native qualified for five national track and field meets. She placed in seven of the eight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship meets she qualified for. Martyn left school as the record holder in the long jump, 400-meter hurdles and the 4x100 relay. She graduated in 2003 with a degree in physical education and a health promotions emphasis. She currently resides in Girdwood, Alaska.
Dan Wargolet - Men's Basketball
Dan Wargolet was a key member of back-to-back NCAA III national championship teams, playing for Hall of Fame coach Bo Ryan. The West Allis, Wisconsin native was a two-time All-WIAC first team member and an honorable mention All-American in 1999. In Wargolet's four seasons playing in the basketball program, the Pioneers won four conference titles and two national championships. The Pioneers' record during Wargolet's playing career was an astonishing 107-8. He finished his career with 919 points, 505 rebounds, 190 assists and 105 steals. He graduated in 2000 with a degree in mechanical engineering and currently works as operations manager at JP Cullen & Sons Inc.
Joanna (Carlson) Weaver - Volleyball
Joanna (Carlson) Weaver was a three-time All-WIAC honoree. She was a first team All-WIAC selection in 2004, while earning honorable mention in 2002 and 2003 playing for Hall of Fame coach Deb Schulman. She was a third team All-American in 2004 and was named UW-Platteville's Female Athlete of the Year. Weaver set the record for assists in a season in 2003 and broke it again in 2004. The Oswego, Illinois native is currently third all-time in assists in a season. She is also third in career assists, a record she held when she finished her career in 2004, the Pioneers went 27-8 and were ranked as high has eighth nationally. Weaver, who was on the Gabe Miller Academic Honor Roll all four years of her playing
career, graduated in 2005 with a degree in accounting and business administration. She lives in Owesgo, Illinois and works at Christian Brothers Services.

James Anderson - Football
James Anderson was UW-Platteville's 1980 male athlete of the year after finishing his outstanding career on the gridiron. The Neenah, Wisconsin native was a two-time all-conference selection and a 1980 all-region selection. The linebacker was voted captain in 1979 and was a member of George Chryst's first team at UW-Platteville. Anderson was named to the 1980 academic all-region team. Anderson graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in business finance and currently is the CEO of Moly Cop.
Matt Kent - Football
Matt Kent was one of the most productive wide receivers to play football at UW-Platteville. The Gratiot, Wisconsin native holds the record for career receiving yards with 2,958. He also holds the single game receiving yards record when he tallied 288 yards on Oct. 19, 2002 vs. UW-Whitewater. With 30 career touchdown receptions, Kent sits number two in the Pioneer record books. Kent was named to the third team of the 2002 NCAA Division III Football Gazette All-America Team, was a three-time first-team All-WIAC selection and voted 2002 Team MVP and 2003 offensive MVP. Kent graduated in 2005 with an industrial technology management and building construction management degree. Kent is currently a carpenter for Madison Metropolitan School District.
Ryan Kleimenhagen - Cross Country/Track and Field
Ryan Kleimenhagen is one of the most decorated athletes in UW-Platteville history. He was an All-American 13 times – three in cross country, five in indoor track and field and five in outdoor track and field. He held 11 school records in his career. He is a four-time national Indoor Track Champion, winning the 2004 1,500-meter run and anchored the championship record setting distant medley relay. In 2005, he won the mile run and the 800-meter run. Kleimenhagen won the 2002 and 2003 Regional Cross-Country title and was named the 2005 Indoor Regional and National Athlete of the Year. He was named to the Gabe Miller Academic Honor Roll and named the 2005 WIAC Max Sprangler Scholar-Athlete. Kleimenhagen was named UW-Platteville male athlete of the year in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. After graduation, Kleimenhagen ran professionally and qualified for the USATF Outdoor Championships in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter races. The Oak Creek, Wisconsin native earned his Bachelor of Science in health promotion and currently owns an auto service shop.
Tom Stetzer - Football
Tom Stetzer rewrote the UW-Platteville record books during his career as the Pioneer quarterback. The Black River Falls, Wisconsin native broke 15 Pioneer football records and six WIAC records. Stetzer holds the WIAC single game record of 41 completions, completing 41 passes twice in 2001, once vs. UW-La Crosse on Oct. 6, and a second time vs. UW-Eau Claire on Oct. 20. Stetzer was a three-time all-WIAC quarterback, three-time national offensive player of the week and currently ranked 10 in career yards for Division III with 10,054 yards. Stetzer was voted Pioneer offensive player of the year in 2000, 2001, and 2002 and was team MVP in 2003. Stetzer was a Gabe Miller Academic Honor Roll member and named the WIAC Max Sparger Scholar Athlete in 2003. After graduating in 2005 with a civil engineering degree, Stetzer played professional football with the Madison Wolfpack before beginning his engineering career with Strand Associates.
The Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1972 by the Alumni Association to honor standout student-athletes, coaches and contributors. This year's class brings total membership to 224 individual honorees. In order to be nominated for consideration into the Hall of Fame, individuals must meet at least one of the following criteria: documented outstanding performance in intercollegiate athletics while a student at UW-Platteville with graduation date 15 or more years previous to the current year, documented outstanding past or current coaching performance at UW-Platteville, or contributed to UW-Platteville intercollegiate athletics through service or as a team.
