ISAAC WIEGEL -- WRESTLING -- (JR. / BELMONT, Wis.) -- 125 lb WEIGHT CLASS The Pioneers welcomed the University of Dubuque, Loras College, Cornell College, and the University of Chicago to Williams Fieldhouse for the 2021 Platteville Invite on Saturday for its first meet in nearly two years.
Junior Isaac Wiegel claimed the title in the 125 lb. weight class for the Pioneers. Wiegel (125) opened his day with a 13-3 major decision over Justin Murray of Loras College. Wiegel advanced to the finals after a 4-1 decision over Cade Hornback of the University of Dubuque. In the finals, Wiegel defeated another Loras wrestler in a 5-4 decision to claim the title.

Defense TYLER BACON -- (JR / JOHNSTON, Iowa) -- DEFENSIVE LINEMAN Bacon had a huge impact on the defensive side of the ball for the Pioneers. He totaled 6 tackles in the game in which he led the team. He was also able to force 2 fumbles in which he recovered one of them. Along with that he had a pass deflection as well on the day.
Special Teams ANDREW SCHWEIGERT (JUNIOR / SUSSEX, Wis) -- KICKER Junior Andrew Schweigert was 7 of 8 on extra points and kicked 6 touchbacks of 9 total kicks for the Pioneers Saturday. He played a critical role in not giving the Blugolds great field position for a majority of the day. |
