Pioneers name athletes of the week, Foley earns WIAC honors

Football - Connor Foley, Junior, (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier), Punter - Foley finished the day with six punts for 261 yards with an average net punt of 43.5 yards and four punts fielded inside the 20. With Foley backed up on his own goal line at the Pioneer 1 yard line, he had a 50-yard punt that sent the returner sprinting backwards to field the kick and ended up with a return for a loss of 1 yard. For his performance Foley was named the WIAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week.

Football - Bo Babich, Sophomore, (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North), Running Back - Babich had his first collegiate start and finished the day with 229 all-purpose yards, two solo tackles on punt coverage, and a touchdown. He had 30 rushing attempts for 141 yards rushing, five catches for 25 yards, two kickoff returns for 63 yards with a long return of 38 yards. Babich brought the spark the Pioneers were looking for as he became the leader on the field for the offense and special teams. With the Pioneers down, Bo put the offense on his back and capped off a 64-yard drive with his first career rushing touchdown to bring the score to 17-14.

Wrestling - Jon Goetz, Junior, (West Bend, Wis/West Bend West), 174 pounds - Goetz went 4-0 and was unscored upon at the Super 8 Invitational at UW-Platteville on Saturday, October 4. He earned victories of 16-0, 7-0, a pin in 1:03 and a 4-0 decision in the championship bout.
