The Pioneer Dance Team
The Pioneer Dance Team is a student organization that is made up of enthusiastic and talented collegiate student-dancers that support Pioneer athletics. The team performs at all home football games, both men’s and women’s basketball games, along with appearances at various other University events and functions. Not only does the Pioneer Dance Team perform, but they also promote school spirit and represent the University in a positive way.

What do tryouts consist of?
Tryouts start with learning a variety of skills and a short routine over the first two days. On the third day, participants trying out will be judged based on their execution of skills and performance of the learned routine. Skills to be judged include double turn, split leap, toe touch, splits, kicks.
How many members can be on the Pioneer Dance Team?
The team can have up to 18 dancers.
What style of dance are the routines that the Pioneer Dance Team performs?
Routines range from pom, jazz, and hip-hop.
What is the time commitment for being a member of the Pioneer Dance Team?
Practices are Monday – Friday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Additional practices may be held prior to performances. There may be team fundraisers and events that members will be asked to participate in as well. All dancers are expected to be at every performance.
