Pioneers remain undefeated after third consecutive shutout
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team shutout Nebraska Wesleyan University 5-0 Sunday afternoon at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. The Pioneers (6-0-2 overall) remain undefeated while the Prairie Wolves fall to 3-6-0 on the year.

"Our family is getting stronger and stronger," said Director of Soccer Sam Koenig. "The way we are playing right now is fun to watch! Players are stepping up in big moments and locking things down in the back."
As non-conference play dwindles, the Pioneers remain the only team in the league undefeated.
UW-Platteville acted fast to secure home victory with senior Amber Lueder drilling in her seventh goal of the season at the 7:52 mark assisted by freshman Lauren Lodico.
Lodico struck again and scored the Pioneers' second goal of the day assist by freshman Alyssa Peterson in the 16th minute.
The trend continued in the first half and it was Peterson who drove in a goal of her own in the 31st minute with an assist by senior Leah Kubasta.
UW-Platteville took the 3-0 lead into the second half and Lueder added another goal in the 60th minute assisted by freshman Annalise Spindle to extend the lead to 4-0.
Freshman Lilly Rausch scored her second goal of the season off a penalty kick in the 81st minute to build the lead to 5-0 which would become final.
UW-Platteville had a 34-6 advantage on shots over the Prairie Wolves. The Pioneers tallied 24 shots on goal to Nebraska Wesleyan's four.
Juniors Emma Ball and Onalee Erickson oversaw the goal for the Pioneers and recorded two saves apiece. Leslie Borges kept busy at the other side of the field and tallied 18 saves in the 90 minutes.
The Pioneers have a short turnaround and will travel to Saint Mary's in Winona, Minnesota tomorrow, Sept. 20 with game time set for 7 p.m.
