Late Carroll goal leads to 1-1 draw
WAUKESHA, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team’s first road contest of the season ended in a 1-1 tie at Carroll University on Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers against the Pioneers battle was nearly a UW-Platteville victory, but an equalizing Carroll goal in the final seconds regulation led to the eventual stalemate.

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team's first road contest of the season ended in a 1-1 tie at Carroll University on Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers against the Pioneers battle was nearly a UW-Platteville victory, but an equalizing Carroll goal in the final seconds regulation led to the eventual stalemate.
UW-Platteville (2-0-1) took an early 1-0 lead in the 15th minute with a Pioneer goal by senior Amber Lueder.
Carroll (3-0-1) fought back for the reminder of the game, totaling 18 shots in the game compared to eight by UW-Platteville. As the seconds counted down, Carroll made one final attempt and a header by Simone Lippmann knotted the game 1-1 at the 89:42 mark.
Neither side was able to gain the lead again and the two Pioneer teams were force to settle with a 1-1 tie.
Junior Emma Ball tallied seven saves across the 110 minutes in goal while counterpart Rachel Jenewein recorded three saves.
The Pioneers will return to action and Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium this weekend when they take on Simpson College on Saturday, Sept. 11 and Lakeland University on Sunday, Sept. 12. Both games are scheduled for 1 p.m.
