DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team fell 2-0 in Wednesday night's non-conference road trip to the University of Dubuque.
The Spartans (8-2-0 overall) who currently lead the American Rivers Conference, defeated the Pioneers (1-8-1 overall) at Oyen Field as they held a 17-3 advantage in shots over the Pioneers.
The Spartans found their way onto the scoreboard in the 34th minute as Carissa Brown connected with Isabell Robinson to put Dubuque up 1-0. The lead was extended in the second half as Brooke Brodzinski scored with an assist by Natalie Dienstbach following a Spartan corner kick in the 57th minute.
Freshman Emma Willard had a team high two shots while Brodzinski had a team high of five for the Spartans.
Two of the Pioneers' three shots were on frame while the Spartans logged 11 shots on goal. Senior Kathryn Flaherty recorded nine saves as counterpart Victoria Roethler tallied two.
The Pioneers return to action and WIAC play on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they host the Falcons of UW-River Falls at 6 p.m. in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
