Pioneers win season opener 4-3 on the road in OT
RIPON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers entered overtime tied 3-3 only to score 00:56 into overtime and defeat the Ripon College Red Hawks in the 2018 season opener.

RIPON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers entered overtime tied 3-3 only to score 00:56 into overtime and defeat the Ripon College Red Hawks in the 2018 season opener.
The Pioneers scored first 10 minutes into the first half with a goal from Taylor Martin assisted by Amber Lueder..
The Red Hawks tied things up with Cassidy Blaney scoring with a pass from Camrie Schitz.
Lueder and Martin then decided to switch things up and this time have Lueder score off of a cross from Martin to increase the lead to 2-1 in the first half.
After halftime, just 00:11 into the second half, Ashley Peck teams up with an assist from Martin to move the Pioneers into a two point lead of 3-1.
Ripon rallied and narrowed the gap until the game was tied 3-3 in the 71st minute of regulation.
Once the overtime clock started, Amber Lueder is assisted by Caelyn Steffens and the Pioneers take the lead in sudden death and win in OT1.
Pioneer keeper Mariah Skogstad played all 90 minutes of regulation and the short lived overtime while saving eight shots in total.
In all, the Pioneers tallied 22 shots, and 15 shots on goal.
The Pioneers' return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Simpson College. UW-Platteville will host the first home game of the year at Ralph E. Davis on Saturday, Sept. 8 against Beloit.
