Pioneers dominant in victory over Rockford
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team defeated the Rockford University Regents 8-0 Wednesday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. The victory moves the Pioneers to 4-1 on the season.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team defeated the Rockford University Regents 8-0 Wednesday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. The victory moves the Pioneers to 4-1 on the season.
The Pioneers offense was able to score early and often in the game, with Anna Sobal scoring only 25 seconds into the game off of an assist from Yamilex Jaramillo. The Pioneers scored minutes later on a goal from Alex Goff at the 5-minute mark. The Pioneers scored three more times in the half with goals from Emily Phillips and Taylor Martin and another goal from Alex Goff. UW-Platteville carried a 5-0 lead into the half.
The Pioneers were able to continue their offensive attack in the second half, scoring three more goals. Sarah Guenther, Maddy Meeker, and Kenzie Bradley all scored, and UW-Platteville goal keepers Mariah Kennedy and Alyssa Sickler were both able to hold the Regents scoreless. The UW-Platteville defense held Rockford to only 2 shots the entire game, while the Pioneers took 25 total shots, with 13 being on goal.
UW-Platteville next plays Monmouth at home on Saturday, Sept. 17, at noon. The Monmouth Fighting Scots will enter the game with a 2-3 record.
