Pioneers open season with big win

The Pioneer women's basketball team came away with its first victory of the season over Clarke College 87-48 in game one of the Ripon Tip-off Tournament.
UWP led 40-16 at the break after holding the Crusaders to six field goals in 28 attempts.
Lisa Wubben led the Pioneers with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Liz Tesch and Lisa Grantman both scored 11.
The leading scorer for the Crusaders was Madie Wolf with seven points and three rebounds.
UW-Platteville will play host Ripon College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
