22-6 start leads to UWP win

UW-Platteville raced out to a 22-6 lead and cruised past Augustana 72-56 Monday night in a non-conference women's basketball game in Rock Island, Ill.
Leading 9-6, the Pioneers went on a 13-0 that led to the 22-6 advantage 9:32 into the game. UWP never allowed the Vikings to get closer than 11 points (at 42-31) the rest of the night.
Holly Kaiser, who was 7-8 from the field, and Shannon Boatman, who had a team-high nine rebounds, shared the Pioneer scoring lead with 14 points apiece. Abby Lalko added nine points off the bench, while Michelle Hardyman had eight points, four assists, and four steals.
Kristen Pence led Augustana (1-6) with 24 points.
The Pioneers take a 4-2 record into Wednesday's game at UW-Whitewater.
