Pioneers down Washington University (MO) 2-1
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team defeated No. 7 regionally ranked Washington University (MO) 2-1 Sunday afternoon in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. The victory on Senior Day marked the first time the Pioneers and Bears met since 2005 when WashU edged UW-Platteville 1-0 in St. Louis.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team defeated No. 7 regionally ranked Washington University (MO) 2-1 Sunday afternoon in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. The victory on Senior Day marked the first time the Pioneers (8-8-2 overall) and Bears (6-6-1) met since 2005 when WashU edged UW-Platteville 1-0 in St. Louis.
Junior David Regan got the Pioneers on the scoreboard first with an assist from sophomore Boston Riley in the 20th minute. Ten minutes later, WashU's Will Sproule connected with Nolan Wolf to tie the game 1-1 at the 30-minute mark.
The teams laid it all out on the line in the second half where the Bears outshot the Pioneers 11-4, but it was freshman Jack Gentilli who capitalized off a corner kick from junior David Regan with less than three minutes remaining to give the Pioneers the 2-1 lead and eventually the win.
Overall, WashU held the advantage in shots 15-7 and corner kicks 7-4.
Gentilli and Regan each recorded two shots apiece with each shot on goal while senior Nate Miller stacked up 10 saves to Matt Martin's two saves.
