The Maryville Saints pulls of their first victory of the season, beating Edgewood Eagles 78-74 Friday in the first round of the Pioneer Ford-Mercury/Tricor Insurance Tip-Off Classic on UW-Platteville's Bo Ryan Court.

The Eagles' Aaron Ritschard cut the lead to 76-74 on a three-pointer with 3.7 seconds left. Teddy McGrath sealed the game for Maryville by making two free-throws with 2 seconds left, making the final score 78-74.

The Saints made a 10-0 run to end the half 44-28, and Maryville gained its largest lead of 19, 54-35, with 16:34 in the second half.

Maryville's Matt Baker led the St. Louis team with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Teammate Jake Baechle followed with 13 points and 2 rebounds with 2 assists and 1 steal.

Edgewood's Charlie Averkamp had 18 points and 11 rebounds with 2 assists. Teammate Jon Ciche followed with 12 points and 4 rebounds with 1 block.
