Pioneers win by 32

UW-Platteville led from start to finish and beat host University of Dubuque 82-50 Thursday night.
Curt Hanson led the hot-shooting Pioneers with 24 points, including a trio of three-point shots in the first five minutes for a 14-4 lead. A Nick Allen three-pointer gave UWP a 25-10 lead with 7:31 left, and another Hanson bomb made the lead 20 at 38-18.
The Pioneers led 42-26 and the Spartans never came closer than 17. UWP led by at least 24 points for the final 13:11 of the contest. The Pioneers shot 63 percent in each half, making 32-51 overall and tying the school record with 12 three-point baskets (in 22 shots).
Hanson made 6-8 three-point shots and 8-11 overall for his game-high 24. Jeff Skemp made 8-9 for 16 points, while Mike Shaw added 11. Charle Lohff had five assists and two steals, helping the Pioneers improve to 6-2.
Tyler Daugherty led teh Spartans (4-4) with 14 points and seven rebounds.
The Pioneers close first-semester play Saturday on Bo Ryan Court against Clarke College at 8 p.m.
