Pioneers Drop 8-3 Game To Coe Tuesday
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team (8-18) fell 8-3 on the road to Coe (21-12) from Bill Quinby Field at Daniels Park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Kohawks got on the board first, scoring four runs in the bottom half of the opening inning. The Pioneers responded with three runs in the top of the second, started by an RBI double by freshman Connor Gresens. The other two runs came in to score on a Kohawks fielding error.
Coe kept UW-Platteville off the board for the remainder of the game and scored a pair of runs in both the sixth and eighth innings to win 8-3. The Pioneers was able to find ways to get on base, but nine were left on base, including multiple runners in three of the final four innings.
Senior Mitchell Pomeroy tallied three of UW-Platteville's 10 hits, while sophomores Caleb Parker and Mason Molitor each had two. Pomeroy and Gresens recorded the Pioneers two extra-base hits.
On the mound, freshman Aidan Kelsick made his collegiate debut and tossed 5.1 innings while allowing six earned runs. He struck out five batters and gave up nine hits. Senior Jake Wegner threw the final two innings and gave up a pair of runs.
The Pioneers will return home to play a pair of games against UW-Whitewater tomorrow at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
