Pioneers Handed Loss By Tigers Tuesday
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team (1-5) played Sewanee (7-8) close for much of the game but the Tigers pulled away late to beat the Pioneers 13-6 on Tuesday afternoon in Pensacola, Florida.

The Tigers got on the board first, scoring one run in each of the second and third innings to take a two-run lead. In the bottom half of the third, junior Slate Higa led off with a walk and came around to score for the Pioneers on an error to cut the deficit in half. UW-Platteville then tied the game in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Spencer Robertson.
Sewanee regained the lead on a two-run single in the fifth and increased the advantage to 6-2 before junior Chris Tsouras got one back for the Pioneers with a one-out single to center in the eighth. The Tigers put up seven runs in the top half of the ninth to go in front by 10, but junior Grant Bossert connected on a three-run home run to make it 13-6.
Sophomore Jordan Stanton fell to 0-2 on the season after allowing four runs on six hits across five innings of work.
The Pioneers finished with 12 hits, with Tsouras, Bossert, and junior Justin Fago each recording three. In his season debut, Bossert tallied a pair of extra-base hits and drove in three of UW-Platteville's six runs.
UW-Platteville will take on Carroll (Wis.) tomorrow at noon in Pensacola, Florida.
