PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Below are a list of all the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletic events taking place for the week of March 11-17.
This Week: The Pioneer baseball heads back to GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill. on Tuesday for a doubleheader with Fontbonne University. First pitch is set for 1:30.
The Griffins defeated Washington U. last Thursday 4-3. Fontbonne plays a doubleheader against Millikin on Monday.
Last Week: The Pioneers went 2-2, beating Greenville in the season opener and falling to North Central (Ill.) twice in a three-game series.
Adam Theis earned the 5-2 victory over Greenville on Thursday. He threw seven innings giving up seven hits and two runs (one unearned). On Friday the Pioneers fell to North Central 21-1 but bounced back on Saturday defeating NCC in the final game of the series 4-3 after falling 11-4 in the first game of the doubleheader.
Newcomer Ryan Duva led the Pioneer hitters with six hits for a .375 average. He recorded three runs and two RBIs as the Pioneers leadoff hitter.
Tyler Nelson pitched four relief innings and earned the win on Saturday versus NCC. He held opposing hitters to a .143 average.
Mike Boushley made his first career start for the Pioneers on Saturday and earned a no decision for his stellar performance. He only gave up two runs on nine hits in seven innings of work.
This week: The Pioneer softball team will travel to Coe College on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
Coe is 13-1 and have outscored its opponents 62-8 in its last five games.
The Pioneers are 1-3 and are led by newcomer Becca Lowe with a .667 batting average. Lowe has recorded a .750 on base percentage and .833 slugging percentage, and she has stolen four bases on four attempts.

This week: Sophomore Tyler Henken will compete at the NCCA Division III Wrestling Championship on Friday at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Last week: Seniors Aaron Hrubes, Chas Spangenberg and Deidre Dillman, junior T.J. Valley and freshman Ian LaMere all competed at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships at North Central College (Ill.).
Dillman, LaMere, Spangenberg and Valley earned All-American honors.
Dillman crossed the finish line in 2:12.12 in the 800-meter run finishing third, and earning her first All-American award.
LaMere was the only rookie and one of two underclassmen in the 13-man field. The Green Bay, Wis. native finished fifth with a time of 14:32.11 in the 5,000-meter run garnering All-American honors.
Spangenberg earned all-America honors in the pole vault. He cleared 16-00.50-feet to finish seventh, which put the Pioneers in 17th-place with two points in the team rankings after the first day.
Valley wrapped up the Pioneers day by finishing sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.23. The Praire du Chien, Wis. native is now a two-time All-American honoree, and he improved on last year's eighth-place performance.
