Pioneers name athletes of the week
Women's Basketball - Morgan Horstman, Junior (Bangor, Wis./Bangor) - Guard Horstman averaged 17 points last week in a pair of games. On Feb. 13th, the Pioneers lost to UW-Whitewater, 54-68. She shot 9-of-19 (47.4 percent), 2-of-4 from beyond the arc (50 percent), 6-of-7 from the free throw line combining for 26 points. 13 of her points came in the third quarter! She also pulled down 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. On Feb. 17, the Pioneers beat UW- Stevens Point 68-64. Horstman scored her 1000th point during the contest, she was the 10th player in program history to reach the milestone. She had 8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. |

Men's Basketball - Quentin Shields, Sophomore (Chicago, Ill./Brooks Prep) - Forward Duax averaged 30 points 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists in the Pioneers' 1-1 week. In their 83-81 overtime loss to UW-Oshkosh on Feb. 6, Duax scored 35 points on 44.4 percent shooting from the field and 3-point range (12-of-27 and 4-of-9, respectively). Duax added six rebounds, four assists and three steals. On Feb. 9, Duax led the Pioneers to a 57-54 win over UW-River Falls with 25 points on 42.9 percent (8-of-19) shooting from the field and 50 percent (5-of-10) from 3-point range. He added three rebounds and three assists. |
Women's Field - Brittany Ehlen, Senior (Burlington, WI/ Burlington) Pole Vault Ehlen won the pole vault competition at the Spartan Invitational hosted by the University of Dubuque. Her winning height of 3.60 meters (11' 9 ¾") continues her unbeaten streak during the indoor season. Ehlen is currently ranked #3 in the WIAC and #19 on the NCAA National list. |

Men's Field - Alex Girard, Sophomore (Black Creek Wis./Seymour) - Shot Put Girard won the men's shot put at the Spartan Invitational hosted by the University of Dubuque. His throw of 15.30m (50' ¾") was over a 5 foot personal record. Heading into the Conference Championships Girard is now ranked tied for 8th. |

Men's Track - Distance Medley Relay(Logan Steinhoff, Senior, Mount Horeb, WI; Alec Burcham, Senior, Mount Horeb, WI; Nolan Wallenkamp, Senior, Hubertus, WI & Zach Lee, Senior, Franklin, WI) These four men competed at the F. Lee Slick Invitational hosted by North Central College. Their time of 9:57.66 was the seconds fastest time in school history and ranks them #3 on the NCAA National List. |
