The University of Wisconsin-Platteville student-athletes had an exceptional 2005-06 school year in the classroom, with 196 Pioneers making the Gabe Miller Academic Honor Roll and the athletic department achieving a higher grade-point average than the overall student body.
One-hundred and ninety-six Pioneers earned at least a 3.0 grade-point average during the year, which qualifies them for the university's honors as well as Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholastic Honor Roll status.
The athletic department grade-point average was a 2.955, which was greater than the overall UW-Platteville average of 2.872.
The UWP award is named after the late Pioneer basketball player, who died one month after helping the Pioneers to the 1995 NCAA Division III national championship.
