168 make Gabe Miller Honor Roll

The UW-Platteville student-athletes compiled a collective 3.085 grade-point average during the 2003-04 school year, with 168 Pioneers earning all-academic Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors.

The all-WIAC selections earned at least a 3.0 grade-point average. That mark also qualifies them for the school's Gabe Miller Academic Honor Roll, named after the student-athlete who died in April 1995, a month after helping the men's basketball team to the national championship.

The Pioneer student-athletes collected a higher grade-point average than the students who don't participate in athletics, 3.085 to 2.89. The collective grade-point average for all UW-Platteville students was an impressive 2.903 for the 2003-04 academic year.

Of the 168 Pioneers attaining academic honors, 12 had perfect 4.00 grade-point averages during the year. They were: David Chancellor, Andy Kahler, Rachel Satter and Paul Schad, track and field/cross country; Tracey Kuehne, volleyball and track and field; Katie Joestgen, volleyball; Rachel Korth, basketball; Chris Lee and Brent Nelson, football; and Curt Frey, Mary Dorow and Nicole Maas, soccer.
