UW-Platteville Hosts 2010-11 Athletic Honors Banquet

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville athletic department held its 2010-11 Athletic Honors Banquet on Tuesday, May 10th.

At the annual honors banquet, Ann Tank (cross country, track and field/Dodgeville, Wisconsin) and Briana Kaiser (volleyball/Cuba City, Wisc.) were recognized as the Co-Female Athlete of the Year. Patrick Klein (cross country, track and field/Monroe, Wisc.) was selected as the Male Athlete of the Year.

Shea Bierman (track and field/Lancaster, Wisc.) Jason Garvens (cross country, track and field/Byron, Minnesota) B.J. Gottschlich (men's soccer/Germantown, Wisc.), Melissa Hillebrand (volleyball/Davenport, Iowa) and Allie Metcalfe (women's soccer/Madison, Wisc.) received the Pioneer Career Achievement Awards.

Nathan Petesch (cross country, track and field/Bellevue, Iowa) received the Male Scholar-Athlete Award, Abby Carey (volleyball/Belmont, Wisc.) and Ali Sikic (volleyball/Sugar Grove, Ill.) received the Pat Doyle Scholar-Athlete Award.

Gina Smith (cross country, track and field/East Troy, Wisc.) was selected as UW-Platteville's candidate for the NCAA Woman of the Year.

Volleyball assistant coach Loren Finn was recognized as the Assistant Coach of the Year.

Bill Clift (cross country, track and field/Byron, Ill.) was honored with the PSAAC (Pioneer Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) Award.

Women's basketball manager Amber Schmidt (Rio, Wisconsin) was selected as the recipient of the Katie Vaassen Scholarship Award.

Curt Fatzginer, Kelly Erickson and Paul Erickson were presented an Award of Thanks for their contributions and efforts towards UW-Platteville athletics.

Mark Evenstad, a radio personality at WPVL and WGLR, presented a scholarship donation to Stacia Nimitz and the UW-Platteville Foundation.
