5 Pillars of the Program
Pillars of the UW-Platteville Football Program:
Developing Champions through Athletics!
Our athletes only experience college athletics one time and we strive to assist all student athletes in the athletics program to do it right and leave with no regrets. This is "their time.”
“Athletics is to create good citizens, not just good athletes”
1. Academic Excellence
All UW-Platteville Freshman football players will partake in our Difference Maker program. The Difference Maker provides our student-athletes with mentors that focus on organizational skills and team building, as well as connecting our student-athletes with a network of professors and campus resources to succeed. UW-Platteville football players will also receive training from Lisa Emendorfer with computer skills, D2L training, and advising.
2. Athletic Excellence
Our student-athletes will have a comprehensive, year round strength and conditioning program with three certified (CSCS) coaches at their disposal. Throughout the year guest speakers will be invited to campus to enhance the overall athletic performance of our athletes (ie. Nutrition, Sports Psychology, etc.). The UW-Platteville football program also uses the most up-to-date technology to provide our athletes with video analysis of their performance both on and off the field.
3. Community Service
Our student-athletes partake in a well rounded, all encompassing participation in varied community service activities/organizations on campus, locally, regionally, and internationally. Along with the Pioneer Student Athlete Advisory Committee (PSAAC), our coaches will organize several volunteer opportunities throughout the year for our student-athletes.
4. Personal Development
The student-athlete is provided and equipped with skills to assist in accomplishing their dreams, goals, values and shown the path to get them there through leadership, attitude, diversity and character training.
5. Career Development
Our University Career Day provides our students with both career and internship opportunities. UW-Platteville’s nationally renowned and cutting edge Career Center will give students a supportive environment for the professional development of our students and alumni. Our Career Center will help with career exploration, academic advising, and career planning and selection. In addition, our football program hosts Real Life Wednesdays, in which speakers are invited to campus to discuss a variety of topics including things such as: resume building, interviewing skills, and buying a car.
