Bio

Michael Martin enters his ninth year at UW-Platteville and third year as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach after serving five years as Assistant Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach.

During the 2015-2016 academic year, Martin worked as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer while finishing his masters in Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and working towards a master’s degree in Adult Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Prior to coming to UW-Platteville, Martin was a graduate intern Strength and Conditioning Coach with the University of Wisconsin Strength and Conditioning Program mainly, working with the University of Wisconsin-Madison football team. Martin also worked as an Athletic Trainer with the UW Health Outreach program providing athletic training to local teams of a variety of sports around the Madison area.

Martin, a Certified Strength and Condition Coach, a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach and is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is a licensed Athletic Trainer in both the state of Wisconsin and Iowa and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. In addition, Martin is Functional Movement Screening Certified (FMS), a USA Weightlifting certified coach and a certified Myofascial Cupping Practitioner.

Martin, a native of Madison, Wisconsin attended Loras College where he was a member of the football and rugby teams in addition to receiving his bachelor's degree in Athletic Training with a minor in Coaching in May of 2014.
