Pioneer cross country opens 2019 season at Tom Hoffman Invitational
Whitewater, Wis. – The Pioneers opened the 2019 cross country season competing at UW-Whitewater's campus course in the Tom Hoffman Invitational. The Pioneer men's and women's cross country teams used the race as a training tool, preparing for the season ahead.
Whitewater, Wis. – The Pioneers opened the 2019 cross country season competing at UW-Whitewater's campus course in the Tom Hoffman Invitational. The Pioneer men's and women's cross country teams used the race as a training tool, preparing for the season ahead.
The Pioneer men's cross country team finished in second place. Among the top 25 of 76 individuals in the 8,000m race, freshman Brett Grisar and senior Zach Klokow ran in at 29:22.4 and 29:22.7 respectively. Sophomore Xander Furmanek finished in 26th place, running 29:37.9. Working along side Furmanek, senior Lars Hay came in at 27th place 29:38.1.
Sophomore Tyler Doering crossed the line in 31st place with a time of 30:05.2 along side Nick Hein who finished in 30:05.6. Freshmen Logan Hipps and Caleb Christiansen worked together to finish in 30:11.8 and 30:12.1 respectively.
The Pioneer's women's cross country team finished in sixth place. Of the 62 runners in the women's 6,000m race, freshman Jenna Guddie finished in 35th place. Guddie ran along side Brenna Kautz and Caitlyn Ifft to finishe in 30:15.9. Sophomore Samantha Meyer crossed in 31:23.4 in 43rd place.
Seniors Claudia DeValk and Anna Drazkowski crossed in 45th and 46th place respectively. DeValk ran a time of 31:25.0 and Drazkowski ran in 31.25.2.
The Pioneer cross country team will take the next weekend off. On September 28, UW-Platteville will host the Pioneer Gender Equity Invite at Cole Acres Golf Course in Cuba City, Wisconsin.
