Pioneer Cross Country competes in Luther JV Cup
The UW-Platteville Cross Country teams competed in the Luther JV Cup Friday Afternoon. Four individuals ran personal bests on Luther's on-campus course in what will cap the season for the participating runners.
Decorah, Iowa - The UW-Platteville Cross Country teams competed in the Luther JV Cup Friday Afternoon. Four individuals ran personal bests on Luther's on-campus course in what will cap the season for the participating runners.
Johannah Meister led the Pioneer women with a 30th place finish and a time of 25:23. Following Meister were Allison Wells (26:07, 42nd), Camille Felton (26:22, 43rd), Anna O'Hern (30:03, 56th), and Lindsy York (33:06, 57th). York's time was over two minutes faster than her previous best. The women finished in fourth place with 119 points. UW-La Crosse claimed the title sweeping the top 5 spots for a perfect team score of 15.
The men were led by Brian Rivers' 4th place finish in 26:29 and Nick Wagner's 10th place finish in 26:41. Three individuals, all freshemen, were able to finish of the season with a personal best. The largest improvement was made by Evan Krug's 28th place finish in 27:23, an improvement of one minute and 33 seconds. Tanner Reinholtz saw a 27-second improvement with his 28:08 that placed him 51st. Nolan Wallenkamp saw a 13-second best with his 45th place finish in 27:59.
Other finishers for the Pioneers were Kyle Herbrand (26:53, 14th), Logan Steinhoff (27:23, 27th), Zach Klokow (27:41, 36th), Chris Czech (27:42, 37th), Matt Smith (27:56, 43rd), Ben Nemec (28:23, 57th), Brett Gillingham (28:26, 60th), Alex Clark (28:58, 74th), and Mitch Muffler (29:08, 78th). The men finished 5th overall with 83 points. UW-Eau Claire claimed the team title with 40 points.
The Pioneers will be competing next weekend in the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Augustana College.
