LaMere Earns National Athlete Of The Year Award
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced UW-Platteville’s Ian LaMere as its National Athlete of the Year for the NCAA Division III Cross Country season.
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced UW-Platteville's Ian LaMere as its National Athlete of the Year for the NCAA Division III Cross Country season.
LaMere won the NCAA Championships in record setting fashion with the fastest winning time and the largest winning margin in championship history.
During the season LaMere won five of the six races in which he competed in winning in an average of 33.75 seconds.
He is the fifth Pioneer to ever win Athlete of the Year honors. Previously Merrill Brunson won for his 1999 basketball season, Ryan Kleimenhagen for his 2005 indoor campaign, Marcia Taddy for both her 2007 indoor and outdoor seasons, and Tyler Sigl for his 2007 Cross Country season.
