Volleyball wins in four after dropping first set
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Volleyball team defeated Carroll 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 27-25 on Wednesday night on Bo Ryan Court. The Pioneers improve to 4-2 on the season while the Carroll falls to 5-4.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Volleyball team defeated Carroll 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 27-25 on Wednesday night on Bo Ryan Court. The Pioneers improve to 4-2 on the season while the Carroll falls to 5-4.
The Pioneers got off to a slow start in the first set in most areas of the game and allowed Carroll to hit .259 as a team to drop the set 20-25. The Pioneers bounced back in set two with a team hitting percentage of .440 and held Carroll to -.042 to win 25-18
Freshman Sam Rossetti entered the third set with the Pioneers trailing 15-20 and provided a spark and led the Pioneers to a 25-22 win. Rossetti continued to run the offense in set four and the Pioneers hit .303 as a team to win 27-25.
All five hitters contributed offensively for the Pioneers:
-Sophomore Olivia Kudronowicz- 14 kills, .267 hitting percentage
-Sophomore Lita Solbrig- 12 kills, .194 hitting percentage
-Sophomore Kaite Asche- Nine kills, .238 hitting percentage
-Sophomore Paige Mertens- Eight kills, .211 hitting percentage
-Senior Katie Jones- Seven kills, .385 hitting percentage
Defensively the Pioneers were led by freshman Stephanie Kalinowski with 20 digs, freshman Taylor Ohm with 10 digs and Kudronowicz with 10 digs. Jones chipped in one solo and two assist blocks.
The Pioneers host the UW-Platteville Invite Friday and Saturday on Bo Ryan Court. The Pioneers play at 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Friday night and 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.
