Frias, Jensen and Schmidt earn All-WIAC honors
UW-Platteville’s Lidia Frias, Allison Jensen, and Jennifer Schmidt were selected all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) by the league coaches on Thursday.
MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Lidia Frias, Allison Jensen, and Jennifer Schmidt were selected all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) by the league coaches on Thursday.
Sophomore Frias and junior Schmidt garnered first team honors, while freshman Jensen was named honorable mention.
Frias led the Pioneers with 117 blocks and ranked third in the WIAC with 1.03 blocks per set. She recorded a career-best 10 block assists against UW-River Falls on Oct. 4 which set a new single game record. She tallied 14 games with four or more blocks. The middle hitter from Iola, Wis., totaled 226 kills with a team-best .271 hitting percentage.
Schmidt recorded a team-best 271 kills, and registered a season-high 18 kills against Simpson on Oct. 24. The outside hitter from Heron Lake, Minn., tallied three double-doubles and recorded 130 digs and 66 blocks.
Jensen ended her rookie season ranked second on the team with 265 kills and posted a .202 hitting percentage. She registered 12 double-digit kill games with a career-best 15 kills against Wheaton on Sept. 19.
Senior Andrea Larsen was named to the conference All-Sportsmanship Team for her display of exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.
