ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team fell 2-0 Wednesday night to the #8 regionally ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Robert W. Fiskum Field.
The Warhawks (10-4-3, 3-0-1 WIAC) took a 1-0 lead over the Pioneers (1-13-2, 0-4-1) in the 18th minute when Anna Brodjian was assisted by Olivia May off a rebound. The Warhawks entered halftime with the narrow lead and extended it to 2-0 in the 50th minute when Brodjian struck again and this time off a pass from Savannah Curtis.
Freshman Alyssa Marroquin and sophomore Hailee Sanford led the Pioneers offense with each having one shot on goal.
Overall, the Warhawks held the advantage in shots over the Pioneers 11-2 with seven on goal for UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks also held the advantage in corner kicks, 8-0.
Junior Kathryn Flaherty tallied five saves against UW-Whitewater while Sara Klimisch totaled two saves.
The Pioneers will continue WIAC play on Saturday, Oct. 26 against UW-Stevens Point on Senior Day in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium at 2 p.m.
