Women's Soccer falls in first round of WIAC Tourney

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team fell to UW-Eau Claire, 3-1, on Tuesday in the opening round of the WIAC Tournament at Eau Claire, Wis.
The Blugolds (8-8-3) didn't waste any time to get ahead early as Paige LeGate scored her first goal of the season, two minutes and 17 seconds into the game. UWEC added another goal in the 25th-minute and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Blugolds' Caroline Henderson scored her second goal of the game in the 75th-minute to put UWEC up 3-0. In the 84th-minute, freshman Katelyn Winther scored her first goal in her collegiate career and was assisted by senior Ashley Chernich.
The Blugolds outshot the Pioneers 23-4 and didn't allow UW-Platteville a corner kick opportunity, while UWEC had eight corner kick chances.
The Pioneers end the 2013 season with a 9-9-3 record and competed in the WIAC Tournament for the first time since 2010.
