Pioneers travel to Augsburg Open

Lucius Rinehart took fourth place in the Gold-285 pounds level after he topped Iowa Lakes' Andre Bissainthe in a 2-0 decision and fell to the third place bracket with a 4-6 loss to Southwest Minnesota State's Andrew Peterson.
Grant Wedepohl ended the day with a 4-2 decision over Southwest Minnesota State's Griffin Osing in the Gold- 174 pounds 5th place bout. Wedepohl started the day off with a 20-0 technical fall over St. Johns' Daniel Gainer. After being pinned by Upper Iowa's Jordan Gundrum who went on to finish second, Wedepohl defeated Central's Andrew McCracken by technical fall 16-0 to advance to the 5th place match.
Chase Katzenmeyer finished in 6th place in the Gold-141 pound bracket. Katzenmeyer won his first match in an 8-3 decision over Parker Huss to then drop by pin fall to Minnesota State Mankato' Louie Sanders in 1:35. Katzenmeyer came back with a 10-2 major decision over Upper Iowa's Ryan Schmalen before falling in the 5th place round to Tanner Day.
In the Silver level, Devan VandenBush and Jacob Sklenar battled it out and took 1st and 2nd in the final 165-pound bout. VandenBush won the final match by a 10-2 major decision.
Also finishing in the top-six of their weight-classes were Peter Driscoll in Silver-174 pounds, Tanner Weber in Silver-285 pounds, and Brandon Lucht in the Bronze-157 pounds weight class.
The Pioneers will take a break until they hit the road in December and travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the MSOE invite.
